A young journalist finds herself in a moral dilemma after bonding with a taxi driver who confesses to a crime he committed years ago. She seeks solace and guidance from her older brother, only to discover that he and the criminal are not so different after all.

Beyond a crime story, the plot explores the nuances of misogynistic culture and how it shapes everyone’s lives—not only women’s, but also the boys and men trapped in a system where the rules are fixed, agency is scarce, and the tools to break free are missing.

“Vai Dormir” (original title) takes place in Brazil and Portuguese will be its original language. The screenplay and pitch were nominated at the Young Director Awards 2025.
